Gina's fundraiser to support creative and critical thinking through the arts
In times of great destruction, creating is an act of rebellion.
At Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW), it is our mission to build community through the arts while fostering connection and transformation. Furthermore, we believe that the arts create common ground and must be accessible.
In any moment I would be overjoyed to support this organization, but in this particular moment, it is an honor to nurture creative and critical thinking in people of all ages and from all backgrounds.
Here's why it matters: While studying the effects of awe, scholars Dacher Keltner and Florence Williams found something special. They found that when we experience or make art, we are more likely to experience awe. This helps us to be more pro-social, more altruistic, and to feel more connected to the world around us. To me, that's exactly what we need more of right now.
In order for CHAW to continue its 50+ year legacy of building community through the arts in countless classes, workshops, residencies, trainings, and performances -- we need your help. Your donation, in any amount, will enable us to continue sharing our passion and expertise for uplifting the value of art, artists, and artful thinking in many contexts.
This is deeply important during a time where creative and critical thinking are intertwined with the quality of all our futures.
Please consider making a donation today, and remember: creativity grows in community, and there's no better time for both than now.
With love + gratitude, Gina
